SHIPPING

I currently offer two shipping options for fine art prints: Economy (Rolled) and Premium (Flatpacked). Both are safe when used appropriately — the best option depends on how you plan to handle, store, and frame your print.
Economy Shipping — Rolled in Tubes
With this option, prints are carefully rolled and shipped in protective tubes. This is the more affordable shipping method and is perfectly suitable if you plan to take the print directly to a professional framer upon delivery.
Please note:
- Fine art papers are more delicate than standard poster paper and can retain shape memory if stored rolled for extended periods.
- Long-term storage in tubes may lead to curling, fibre stress, surface scuffing, or edge damage, especially if the tube is moved or stored incorrectly.
- For this reason, rolled shipping is not recommended if you intend to store the print unframed for a long period of time.
To avoid damage:
- Do not unroll or flatten the print yourself.
- Always allow a professional framer to safely acclimatise and flatten the paper using the correct tools and methods.
While prints are packed securely, I can’t take responsibility for damage caused by long-term storage or handling once delivered, particularly if prints and certificates are kept rolled for extended periods.
This option is best for:
- Collectors framing immediately
- Single prints
- Smaller prints
- Customers looking for a more affordable shipping method
Premium Shipping — Flatpacked Prints
Premium shipping involves prints being shipped flat in rigid, protective packaging, which offers the highest level of protection for fine art papers.
Flatpacking is recommended if:
- You plan to store the print before framing
- You are purchasing multiple prints
- You are purchasing larger prints
- You want the most premium, archival-friendly handling option
Benefits of flatpacked shipping:
- Reduces stress on paper fibres
- Prevents curl and shape retention
- Minimises risk of surface scuffing or edge damage
- Ideal for collectors and longer-term storage
This method is more expensive due to larger parcel sizes, increased materials, and higher courier rates, but it offers the best protection for fine art prints.
Paintings – Custom Crate Shipping
For oil paintings or other artworks that cannot be rolled, I use custom-built crates to ensure safe delivery. Crates are designed specifically for the size and weight of each painting, providing maximum protection during transit. This is a premium shipping option, and costs will be quoted individually based on the painting and your location.
Shipping Costs & Quotes
Shipping is not included in the price or checkout but you can view rough estimates here.
Please be aware:
- Flatpacked shipping is more expensive than tube shipping.
- Courier rates can change, especially for oversized flat parcels.
- I will confirm a formal shipping quote which you will need to settle before dispatch.
All orders are carefully packaged and shipped with full protection for your prints, certificates, and accompanying materials.Shipping costs are quoted separately after your order is confirmed because the final cost depends on several factors, including:
Print/painting size — Larger prints require bigger boxes and more protective materials.
Number of paintings/prints — Multiple items may need a larger box or additional packaging.
Destination — Domestic and international shipping rates vary by location and carrier. For transparency, we provide baseline shipping estimates for domestic (South Africa) and international destinations in advance, prices may vary as rates continuously change — view estimates here

All paintings are shipped fully stretched, never rolled. The works are executed in oil, often with areas of thick impasto, and rolling or re-stretching poses a significant risk of cracking and surface damage.
To ensure safe transit, paintings are shipped in custom-built interlocking thick corrugated crates, designed specifically to protect the paintings.
Crates are custom-made for each shipment, taking into account the size and number of works. -
